The Weekly Pull List

Happy new year! I don’t know about you, but I’m excited to be back into the swing of regular comic books. Plus! Image Expo is this week, how awesome is that?

What’s on YOUR Pull List?

Mike Rapin

  • ALL NEW X-FACTOR #1
  • CABLE AND X-FORCE #18
  • DRUMHELLAR #3
  • INVINCIBLE UNIVERSE #9
  • MARVEL KNIGHTS SPIDER-MAN #4
  • SEX CRIMINALS #4
  • SWAMP THING #27
  • THREE #4
  • WALKING DEAD #119
  • YOUNG AVENGERS #15

Oh my, All-New X-Factor is coming this week. I can’t express how excited I am. Peter David and Gambit and Danger and… this book is going to be stellar.

Sex Criminals is a close second for excitement. The more I think about this book the more I love it. It’s such a punch in the teeth with realistic ignorance and shenanigans that I can’t help but love it with every issue I read.

Then near perfection in a comic books arrives: Marvel Knights: Spider-Man. This may be one of the best mini-series I’ve ever read and it’s not even finished yet. Matt Kindt is killing it and artist Marco Rudy Teixeira Retagi is a god.

Finally, Young Avengers. We’re closing up here real quick and I’m okay with it. Kieron Gillen and Jamie McKelvie’s run has been fun. I’m not sure what the point was, but it was fun.

Paul Jaissle

  • Action Comics #27
  • Afterlife With Archie #3
  • Batman Black and White #5
  • Batman Superman #7
  • Detective Comics #27
  • Fatale #19

Afterlife With Archie has been a really nice surprise. Rather than just another predictable zombie story, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Francesco Francavilla are creating a fun story that still manages to be legitimately creepy.

I can’t say enough good things about Greg Pak and Aaron Kuder’s work on Action Comics so far. This is exactly the kind of Superman comic I want: big action with lots of heart.

Although the $7.99 cover price is pretty steep, I do plan on grabbing the oversized issue of Detective Comics. I’m a sucker for these kinds of anniversary issues, especially when they include my favorite character ever. New stories from Scott Snyder and Paul Dini alongside new art by Neal Adams and Dustin Nguyen make this a must-buy for me.

  • AFTERLIFE WITH ARCHIE #3
  • DRUMHELLAR #3
  • FBP: FEDERAL BUREAU OF PHYSICS #7
  • HINTERKIND #4
  • LETTER 44 #3
  • MANIFEST DESTINY #3
  • SEX CRIMINALS #4
  • SEX CRIMINALS #1 (FOURTH PRINTING)
  • SHAOLIN COWBOY #4
  • SHELTERED #6
  • THREE #4

The first question I have this week is, “will Afterlife with Archie actually come out??”

Letter 44 has been a whole lot of fun, and I foresee good things coming from this title this year. I can’t wait to see what it has in store for me.

So we’re all excited for the new Sex Criminals, right? Right. Well if you haven’t jumped on the bandwagon yet, this week is the perfect week to do so. New printings of all issues will be hitting the shelves, including what is probably the best fourth printing variant any comics publisher has ever released, ever. Seriously. Google (or Bing it if that suits your fancy) “Sex Criminals fourth printing variant” and take a gander at the only fourth printing of a book I will ever buy. I’m going to get it framed.

Sheltered promises new character and a new arc this week, and that leaves me jumping for joy.

Blake Hamilton

  • Legend of Oz the Wicked West #14
  • Quantum & Woody #7
  • Rogues! #6
  • Shadowman #14
  • Westwood Witches #4

This is a nice week for me!

Legend of Oz is always a good page turner from Big Dog Ink, so I know I will be content with this weeks issue.

Quantum & Woody is just too much fun! I really want to see what Quantum does to get out of the situation from the previous issue. I tend to have a hard time not laughing with each passing exchange of dialog.

Rogues! and Westwood Witches wraps up their story arcs now. They have all been good to read and has me looking forward to the next installment of Rogues! and whatever else Amigo Comics wants to dish out.

Shadowman was a both terrifying and good in the previous issue since the new creative team change, so yeah… I’m all in! The Shadowman loa is not a nice thing to have inside of you and will mess your life up.

Attention! That’s it!
