post Weekly Comic Previews: October 15, 2008

October 14th, 2008

There are plenty of great books coming out this week. Actually, many of the big books from Marvel are coming out this week. Unfortunately, nothing really special to talk about. But, I did manage to find 3 books that I think are worth paying particular attention to this week, all from Marvel. So read on, True Believers!

“New Ways To Die” ends this week, much to mine and many other Spidy fan’s disappointment. This is easily the best arc post Brand New Day and if you’re not reading it, you are seriously missing out. Expect a great conclusion that will wrap some loose ends up and probably bring up lots of new questions. Plus, Stephen Colbert guest stars in a special story at the end. How can you not want to buy that?

X-Men: World’s Apart #1

Apparently, ’tis the season for lots of little stories about individual X-Men. “Worlds Apart” is no different. This one focuses on Storm, which is an interesting character to focus on. Not much is done with her, but she’s pretty interesting. “Worlds Apart” is set to focus on the disjunction between Storm’s life as the queen of Wakanda and her role with the X-Men. Should be a good one, so pick up the first issue this week!

Young X-Men #7

Rounding things out this week is Young X-Men. New arc starting this week. Hopefully, things will improve from the last arc. In my opinion, Young X-Men does not live up to New X-Men, so hopefully this arc can get things back on track. Apparently a new line-up is going to be introduced. Also, the Marvel solicitation states that this is a great jumping on point for new readers. So if you are interested in next-gen X-Men, pick up Young X-Men this week.

That’s all, folks. Look for these and other great comics coming to a local comic shop near you this Wednesday. And, of course, HAPPY READING!!!
