Tuesday Twist-offs — faster than taurine and guarana combined
September 30th, 2008
If you’re the type of person who just can’t help but love reviews on the fly, say no more and continue reading. This week’s Twist-offs are teeny tiny, but please bear with me…
And let’s begin… (spoilers and funnery–like gunnery but with less bullets and more fun/swearing–after the break.)
Back to Brooklyn #1
Garth Ennis is a plain old bad ass. Coming right of the Marvel Max title The Punisher, Ennis along with Jimmy Palmiotti, begins this limited series from Image with complete style. The tale of a mobster trying to go good couldn’t be told any better. I can’t even divulge an ounce of this story it is so damn good. The art is impeccable. It fits so well with this story, you’d think Mihailio Vukelic illustrating from experience. You need to go out and pay for this title.
Deadpool #2
Remember last week where Deadpool #1 was amazing? Well, it doesn’t stop. Not even for a moment. This month’s issue bursts into your mind like LSD with what the Skrulls and Deadpool plan together. Get this: An army of super-sneaky, super-healing Super Skrulls. 3x super for bad-ass-ness. And who better to train them than, you (should have) guessed it, Deadpool! Teaching the Super Skrulls the art of insanity, Deadpool finishes training with said Skrulls and leaves them to destroy the Skrull invasion from the inside, out. But why, why would Deadpool do this? Why, because Deadpool is working for NICK FURY! Whoooa. Yes. Badassery. Done and done.
Short and sweet, just how I like it.

[...] picked this book up because I just have a weird love for Garth Ennis. I read Back to Brooklyn #1 and loved it and I know his monster run on Punisher was phenomenal so I decided to give this a go. [...]
