Invincble: The Series
July 15th, 2008 -- mini-url
OMG Guys. This is some serious news…. to me. Robert Kirkman‘s unbelievably amazing comic book Invincible is being turned into an animated series. Thanks to the guys over at Comic Book Resources I found this gem of a story and boy am I excited.
This series made me love non-Marvel/DC titles along with Kirkman’s The Walking Dead (both The Walking Dead and Incincible are on Image comics). The tale of your everyday kid named Mark Grayson who’s dad happens to be a super-hero which means… you guessed it: he’s a super hero too. This series takes off almost immediately and holy damn guys, the trailer for this just looks fantastic. Check it out on the official site.
According to the article, the series is going to take the pages of Invincible and bring them to life, and I’m so glad they chose to do that. In my opinion there is no one who could draw Invincible better than Cory Walker. His hand draws no evil (unless you count Battle Pope hehe), and any adaptation would be seriously sacrilege. Nevertheless, I’m hoping to the mighty comic book gods that MTV doesn’t ruin the series, but given that it’s going to be direct-from-the-comic I can’t see how that is possible.
Keep an eye out for the series on iTunes, MTV, MTV2, and XBox on July 22. The first 12 issues cover issues #1-4 of the series and the animated series is supposed to run into mid-September covering up to issue #36. How excited are you guys? I know I’ll be buying it all via iTunes or some medium and updating you guys on how everything goes.
