I don’t know how many of you were really worried about Luke Cage and Jessica Jones’ baby at the end of Secret Invasion but I personally was freaking out. I think that Bendis has been doing a simply wonderful job building Luke and Jessica’s relationship throughout New Avengers, Civil War, and Secret Invasion and now I can honestly say that I care about them and their child (and to think that a few years ago they were floating in relative B-list hero obscurity). Which brings me to issue 49 of New Avengers. Luke has found the Jarviskrull.
Unfortunately Luke had to go to the most deplorable man in the MU for help; a deal with the devil most certainly. He went to Norman Osborn and in exchange for the goblin’s help Luke agreed to be Norman’s man whenever he was needed. Given his sordid past I was a little disappointed with Luke after issue 48. You’re a hero Luke, act like one. But he redeems himself in stellar fashion and proves that he deserves to be an Avenger. Out of all of the heroes I’ve watched grow in the recent past, Luke Cage seems to be the one whose changes actually feel substantial, tangible, and hopefully, lasting.

Hello everybody and thanks for checking out my first article here at Destroythecyb.org! Back in July 2007, New Avengers #31 revealed that the Hand had been infiltrated by the alien race know as the Skrulls and Danny Rand asked the question, “What does this all mean?”
One year later, it all comes together in Brian Michael Bendis‘ new series, Secret Invasion. While it’s only been a few months, this truly epic saga is so vast that, before I review the latest issue, I’m going to bring everyone up to speed on the whole series.
After the break, my synopsis of the Secret Invasion plot so far. Warning: MAJOR SPOILERS.

 Daredevil #110 Cover
When I saw the Daredevil movie, I really thought this is what the Daredevil character was like. Yes, the movie did a fairly good job capturing the darker tones of the comic, but missed on almost every other level. Because of this, I was reluctant to start reading Daredevil. But when I saw that amazing writers like Brian Michael Bendis and Ed Brubaker were writing it, I thought I would give it a chance. Since then, I haven’t regretted the decision once.
This month, Daredevil wraps up one of the most intriguing arcs that I have read so far in Daredevil. The basic premise of the story is that this man, “Big” Ben Donovan, who is a somewhat shady fellow, has been wrongly accused of murdering 3 people, including 2 children. He is sentenced to death. However, Luke Cage doesn’t believe that he did it and hires Dakota North to figure out who the real culprit is. Along the way, Matt Murdock and associates get involved as well. Only problem is, even though Donovan basically admits he is coving for someone, he won’t admit it. At the end of the last issue, Dakota gets shot and Daredevil is being surrounded by a bunch of men with guns. This is where this issue picks up and boy is it amazing. Click that little “more” for my full review. Seriously… do it!

I’ve been reading Immortal Iron Fist since the current series began and I have dug it a lot. It’s probably one of my favorite series right now (next to X-Factor and Invincible) and this week I was just blown away.
Given that Matt Fraction ended his run with issue #16–which I was dumb and somehow didn’t realize–I was a tad skeptical at how this new arc was going to take off. Lucky for me, it ended up being fucking amazing and it seriously blew my mind. From what I’ve been hearing from Comic Con in San Diego, Matt Fraction and Ed Brubaker (who co-wrote the first 16 issues together) are saying their series is going to look lame compared to what is coming from Duane Swierczynski in the near future… Really with one issue in I can already see it getting amazing. (Although, I loved the tournament from Fraction and Brubakers run).
