 Mondo Marvel Panel
Hey everyone, Mike here reporting from Chicago. Nick and I covered some panels today, so look out for his DC Nation post sometime soon.
Today, though, I hit up the Mondo Marvel panel featuring Jim McCann, Mark Paniccia, Dan Slott, Jason Aaron, Sean McKeever, Chris Yost and Craig Kyle. There was a little bit of information at this panel, just a bit more than the Ultimate’s panel, but nonetheless it was informative. I took notes on my iPhone so if I missed some small stuff, I’m sorry.
The convention covered a bunch of things, but I’ll just spit it to you as I got it:
Dan Slott featured a teaser for his arc that will be coming up in Amazing Spider-Man featuring none other than Mysterio! (But I thought he was dead?! Oh wait, this is Marvel mwhahaha). This should be showing up around issues #618 or #619.
Paul Toben and Patrick Scherberger will be putting out a 4 issue limited series called Spider-Man and the Secret Wars–yeah, from way back then–which will cover a bit of retelling of Spider-Man’s place in Secret Wars and his view of things.

So, if you read this blog regularly, you’ll know that on Tuesdays, I usually talk about a couple of comics I am excited for that are coming out the next day. Well, couple changes this week. First, I am doing this one Wednesday, cause the comics don’t get released until Thursday, due to the 4th in the US. Second, I am only going to talk about one comics this week. Why? Because, honestly, there isn’t much coming out this week that is of note. Lots of books that are in mid-arc, which is great, but not really blog worthy. So, I am going to talk about Ultimate Origins #2, cause it is the only thing I am excited for this week.
There are a few reasons why Ultimate Origins is important. Mostly crucial, it is setting up the first major Ultimate Universe cross-universe arc, Ultimatum, which is going to have major repercussions for the continuation of the Ultimate books. Other than that, it is just plain cool and gives a lot of information about the background of all the characters. Oh yeah, and like Brian Michael Bendis said “here’s a hint, it’s all connected”.
I don’t really want to spoil last month’s issue, cause you really just need to read it, but I’ll just say they dropped a major bomb about the X-Men that makes them completely different from the main Marvel U. Other than finding out what is going to come from that major reveal, we are going to learn some more about Captain America this month. And of course, the writing is going to be amazing cause Bendis is leading the charge. Oh yeah, the art will be amazing, as Butch Guice, who you may know from Captain America and Invincible Iron Man recently, will be penciling. If you read the issue last month, you’ll know the art is already outstanding.
Anyway, that is really it for this week, comic fans. Happy reading and don’t forget to post in the comments what you are excited for this week!
