 The Mighty #1 Cover
Here we are, mid-November and things here in West Michigan are just now starting to turn towards the bitter cold of winter. But in the forever-looking-ahead world of comics, we are already starting to think about February, when we start breaking out of the dead of winter and spring is just around the corner.
I was hoping that by February solicitations, all those cryptic Dark Reign comics would be revealed for all the world to bask in their glory. Unfortunately, with Secret Invasion not ending for a couple of weeks, we are once again left with several Marvel books without proper solicitations. Despite this, there’s still a ton of comics to look at in February, including a bunch of Marvel stuff, a few DC books and maybe even an indie thrown in for good measure.

Dead of Night Featuring Warewolf By Night #1 Cover
My first impression when viewing the solicitations for the new year for the big 2 comic book publishers was “this is it?” Honestly, it felt a little underwhelming. Considering the fact that Marvel is coming off their big cross-over event, Secret Invasion and in the midst of a whole boat load of X-Men stuff, you’d think that more would be happening. Same for DC, where they are set to finish up their big cross-over, Final Crisis, is post-Batman R.I.P. and is also finishing up Superman’s major New Krypton story arc. But then I dug a little deeper and pulled out a whole bunch of great gems to get excited for. And I’m sure there’ll be more, as many Marvel solicitations are still classified until Secret Invasion wraps up next month. January is shaping up to be a pretty good month to be a comic book fan. And guess what, it is also my birthday month. So, faithful readers, I expect each and every one of you to go out and get me a comic book for my birthday. Seriously. Do it! But until then, read on for some previews so you can decide which one to get me…

Marvels: Eye of the Camera #1 Cover
It is that time of the month again, when comic book publishers put out their solicitations. Now, I have been eagerly awaiting the announcements of these for the past week. Seriously, ask those who follow me on Twitter. I’ve been annoyingly talking about solicitations for the past couple of days.
I’ve got a ton to talk about this month. Unfortunately for you DC fans, I’ll only be previewing Marvel books for December. This is mostly because none of the DC books that I read were at any place particularly exciting (yes, Superman is in the middle of the New Krypton stuff, but I’ve previewed this before). So, we’ll talk about some post-Secret Invasion stuff, a bunch of What If?s, Marvel “Noir” comics and the triumphant return of Marvels. Don’t touch that keyboard, cause if you are like me, you’re gonna need to choose between buying comics and buying presents for your loved ones…
