DestroyTheCyb.org! was founded on comic books. Since 2008, we have expanded our review base from simply comic books to comic books, movies, music, and TV.

We have been featured as small press at the San Diego Comic Con and are always looking to expand our convention visits to allow our unique views on them to be shown.

Our writers are a group of people with a passion for what we write about and we want the world to know exactly what we know and how we feel about these things.

Here is some information about our writers:

Nick NelsonNick is a student at Grand Valley State University, majoring in Information Systems with a minor in International Business. In his free time, he (clearly) enjoys reading comics. He started this blog as a way to share his love of comics and hopefully give people some advice on what they should read and buy. While he has only been reading comics for less than a year, he has become extremely passionate about them and hopes this passion is reflected in his writings here.

Mike RapinMike is a Computer Science major at Grand Valley State University who in his free time likes to fill his head with comic books, specifically Marvel and in particular, X-Men and related comics. Along with Marvel comics, Mike has become a fan of many non-Marvel titles (Invincible, Air, DMZ) and would like to continue to read non-main stream comics in the future along with his beloved Marvel comics. Mike plans on expanding his mind with more knowledge to further his pursuit of a career in web development. When he’s not studying (which he tends to do a lot of), he loves to sit down and have a good discussion about comic books, their various characters and their political, comical and dramatic plots. He has a true passion for the art that is a comic book and the massive amount of time and effort taken to create a single issue.

Jeff Lanning – Jeff is a student at Grand Valley State University majoring in Economics and Mathematics, and is originally from Grand Rapids Michigan. Jeff has been a comics nerd since his tottering youth where he and his brothers shared a subscription to Amazing Spider-Man and Spectacular Spider-Man. Although he did not read many comic books in high school, his interest stayed. His freshmen year at GVSU, a fellow from his floor, Mike Rapin, reintroduced Jeff to the new Marvel Universe, most importantly the Ultimate Marvel universe. He was, at first, skeptical of seeing as he was a hardcore Marvel fan and thought this “revamp” of sorts spoiled the source. Boy was he wrong. Since then he has gone back and read almost every X-Men related comic ever along with all Spider-Man titles all the way through the 1970s. Currently, he reads all Marvel monthly titles and thinks he can help you find the best book for you.

Cory Ringdahl – Cory Ringdahl is older than you, but not older than your friend who you think is old. He lives in the San Francisco Bay Area, tinkering with your Internet and saying things into microphones. He also loves comics and plans to do some writing of his own one day, be it prose, comics, or just lizard entrails stapled to the side of a van. He’s a Marvel Zombie from way back (not the Kirkman kind, the regular kind), though his forays into other strangeness occasionally seep into his awareness, and thus his writing.

Daniel Palacio – Daniel has been reading comics for a long time now. He lives in San Diego, but for how much longer is anyone’s guess. He is a proud member of the DC Nation, but still loves the House that Stan and Jack Built. He wishes that mainstream comics would be more accessible to new readers, but also enjoys “continuity porn” every now and then. He admits to drunkenly arguing about whether Batman could beat Superman on more than one occasion.

Matt Brier – Matt Brier has a degree in Computer Information Systems and currently works as a Software/Database administrator.  He also dabbles in podcasting and blogging.  He inherited a love of comic books from his father and has been collecting ever since his father bought him a copy of G.I.Joe(Marvel) #10 way back in the day.  Originally attracted to Marvel he branched out into DC and Independent publishers as he got older.  Now he focuses on a select few DC, IDW, and Dark Horse series in his weekly buying, but is always open to picking up an interesting collection from any publisher.  He hopes to be either a full time writer, broadcaster, or web developer in the future and hopes readers will find his reviews as enjoyable to read as they are to write.

Jake Cole – Jake is a Software Engineering major at Auburn University who has only stumbled into comics over the last 6-8 months. However, he’s loved superheroes since his childhood during the boon of great superhero cartoons (Batman: TAS et al.). Also, due to his obsessive nature, he has already accumulated a halfway decent set of trades and is always on the lookout for old must-haves and future classics. He also loves comic book films, and feels the pain of the fanboy when they are executed poorly. By contributing to this site, he hopes to both gain a better understanding of comics through the contributions of others as well as get out his ingrained superiority complex and inner armchair critic by telling others what to think.

Andrew Kovatch – Andrew is a student of Adverting and Public Relation at Grand Valley State University where he bumped into Erika Szabo who reminded him of his love for comics. His passion started as a child reading both DC and Marvel titles, but his favorite was the Batman. He hopes to expand his knowledge of comics as well as bring incite to others about the ones he enjoys.

Nick Wreden – Nick is a senior in high school with hopes of attending college and majoring in screen-writing. While his interest in comic books only developed a few years ago, his childhood was filled with watching Spiderman on Saturday mornings and Batman on weekday nights. A friend of his first introduced him to Runaways and since then he’d been hooked, develing into New Avengers, the Civil War, Captain America, and many, many others. He discovered Destroythecyb.org while searching Digg one morning and eventually worked up the courage to ask for a spot on the staff. He currently enjoys his status as the blog’s youngest writer and looks forward to working with the rest of the team for a long time.
